Michael has been performing on Shaiko-hachi for about 8 years. This Japanese bamboo flute was made by friend Alyssa Allen. The shakuhachi (or shaiko-hachi) has five finger-holes and is a pentatonic instrument. Michael plays this flute for meditations; a second style can be found on some CD tracks combining Native American and blues.
